Discussions began between the leadership of the church and the leadership at Living Hope. They prayed for God’s plan, equipping, and provision for the right person to lead this new endeavor. Many of the needed pieces of the puzzle began to come together, but they continued to pray for a year for God to reveal His choice to lead this new satellite.
In 2015, God used a providential meeting between Chris and Jen Ward and leaders of the Houston church to provide the right person for the new satellite. Chris and Jen had a connection to the church through mission work they had been doing in Haiti. Although this couple had no connection with Living Hope or any history of their own or a loved one’s struggle with same-sex attraction, God had prepared them to be ready and willing to accept the challenge. The Wards had been involved in youth ministry for many years, and their life on the mission field gave them the skills and the heart to learn about Living Hope and serve the Lord in a different mission. They are a testimony of God’s faithfulness and answer to prayer.
"Although this couple had no connection with Living Hope or any history of their own or a loved one’s struggle with same-sex attraction in their immediate family, God had prepared them to be ready and willing to accept the challenge. as they navigated an extended family member’s marriage to a person of the same sex and through their work in youth ministry. As one of their youth came out loud and proud, they were heart -broken over not knowing how to respond or how to help bring any peace to the leadership, parents, and greater church body. These two relationships shaped them to be ready to answer the call to lead Living Hope Houston."
